How the Queen and King of Bean came to be

How the Queen and King of Bean came to be

Here’s how it happened. We met in college. Lili was captain of the polar water polo team and Tully was the unelected strongman leader of the axis of improv. Publicly, we were sworn enemies in the age-old battle between sport and art. Privately, our hostility was even fiercer. The mere sight of the other could cause a pot of cold water to boil with rage. To boil with rage and beans. With rage and beans and a few aromatics for flavor. And a dash of salt. And then drain the rage and beans. Add a nice sauce. Stir and serve. And … now I’m not so angry. Or hungry. And I think I love you?

I’m not sure that’s 100% correct but college was years and years ago so I can’t be expected to remember how it all actually went down. Beans may not have brought us together as a couple, but they’ve kept things interesting for the past couple of years and, more importantly, brought us together with you! And for that we are very grateful.

Happy Valentine’s Day beany babies! (credit to Bean Club member extraordinaire Maddy H. for that sweet term of endearment)
